Mountain Jam 2011 Lineup Announcement

I've been to Mountain Jam music/camping festival in nearby Hunter, NY, the past three years in a row. It's unlike any other live music experience, partly because it blends the music experience with an outdoor experience -- camping, hiking, biking, and even an extreme adventure course set high in the pine canopy.

It has the drawbacks of most other jam festivals -- namely by day three the things that drew you in to begin with -- the sights, sounds and smells -- begin to be the same things that make you want to leave. Still, the upsides keep you coming back and looking at this year's stellar lineup --the usual Gov't Mule sets along with My Morning Jacket, Bela Fleck, North Mississipi All Stars, Dawes, Edward Sharpe and Mag. 0's-- it will be well worth the $170 price tag.

Iron & Wine to perform new album live TONIGHT!

You can watch Iron and Wine perform its new album, Kiss Each Other Clean, live here at 8 p.m. tonight.

You're welcome ; )

New Decemberists album out Jan. 18!

The Decemberists caught my ear a couple years ago with their hauntingly powerful indie/rock sound that is so fresh and new it lacks proper comparison. They caught my attention more recently with their great cover of the Grateful Dead's "Row Jimmy," which was released along with "January Hymn" as an EP. As it turns out, all this buzz is leading up to the release of their LP, The King Is Dead, due out Jan. 18.

Really looking forward to this one ...

You can listen to The King is Dead in its entirety over at NPR.
